Denim

One thing I loved about maternity clothes were the elastic waistbands, I didn't realize how much I liked them until I had to use a zipper again once Petra was born. I've been progressively losing weight since then and now my pre-pregnancy jeans are so baggy that I don't have to undo them to take them off, if I take my belt off, they just fall off. They look sloppy and messy. I went shopping today for new jeans but I didn't want to spend too much in case I lose or gain more weight over the next few months.

I was looking for something nice but still affordable. I bought 2 pairs of Buffalo jeans and I think they're awesome. What's your favourite brand of denim?

  1. Anything with 1-2% Lycra :)

Prior to that I loved Calvin Klein jeans but could only find them in the US.

  2. Not that you have this issue Gina, but I am ... short :) So, I typically buy Gap or Old Navy jeans in Ankle length.
But I agree with you Michelle... stretchy denim all the way!
One of these days I want to buy a designer pair that gives you a butt lift!

  3. I refuse to pay more than $60 for a pair of jeans ($300 jeans? Are they nuts?). But not all jeans are alike, as we've seen. I tend to stick to Levi's. I'll wait for them to have a sale (good luck!) or get them at Sears/The Bay (more sales, but crappier tones, usually). There's also a Levi's outlet store at the Dixie Value Mall (Dixie/QEW) in Mississauga, but the common sizes in the good styles go fast so you have to hope they've just received a shipment before your visit. Dunno what Levi's are like for women... I tend not to notice the label while I'm appreciating the butt lifts. :P

  4. Hi Gina, congrats on the weight loss! I too decided to invest in new jeans, I found great ones at Old Navy for $39.99, "Diva" in size 4!!!!! Yay!!! Anyway, they look pretty hot, they have so many different styles, I actually enjoyed myself for a change.

  5. I've got to say, I really enjoy the way Gap jeans fit (specifically the CURVY style) as I have some hips to fit!
I once bought a pair of Sevens I found at Winners - and they were delicious. But I gave them away when I gained some weight. Now I wish I still had them :(

  6. I also love Gap jeans, I've looked and looked and looked but I keep going back to them. After losing my preggo weight, I wanted to treat myself so I tried on a pair on Citizens of Humanity ($200) - then I went to the Gap and put on a pair of Boot Cut. Same butt lifting effect, same comfort, for $50.

  7. I also have good luck with Gap, and recently, Reitmans, if you can believe it! The Reitmans one are a little higher waist than I'd like, but for a pair of 'transition' jeans, the price was great and they look pretty good, too. I've never really bought a NICE (ie: expensive) pair of jeans, but I might think about it once I'm back to where I wanna be, weight-wise.

  8. I've just been inspired to go try on some Gap jeans this weekend! I desperately need some transition pants and Joe doesn't cut it when it comes to jeans.

But after that, I'm totally going to splurge on a pair of Citizens. My butt loves them ;-)

  9. I second Lindsay on Reitmans jeans, my 3 newest pairs of jeans are from there and I'm fairly frugal so the price point works very well :)

  10. Gap is good for me too because they do long lengths. My legs are actually not as long as you would expect based on my height, I'm body tall.

I have an old pair of Citizens and a pair of James jeans and they're both awesome but way too pricing for transition body :) I haven't checked Winners though.

I think you should all look at Buffalo, I got one pair at Jean Machine (as if I ever thought I would go into a store called Jean Machine) and another at Medecino's. They look designer (in my opinion).

  11. I haven't tried GAP yet, I'll check it out on Monday :)

  12. I agree with the Reitmans comment. I refuse to spend a ton of money on a pair of jeans in a size that I do not wish to stay. They have a style called "Comfort" fit in boot cut and they do great things to help deflate the muffin top.

I also like the Gap's Long and lean jeans (though I am definately not long and lean)... I will get another pair once I lose some of the baby chub!
