Petra is going to be starting on finger foods soon which means we'll need a tray for her when we're not eating at home. Any recommendations for booster seats? Or recommendations for first finger foods?
For first finger foods you want something that is both easy to grasp and digest. With these qualities in mind, I started both my kids on rice and grain products such as cheerios, special K, baby mum-mums (organic available), and torn up pieces of white bread (I like the stuff baked fresh at the store because it seems to have fewer ingredients) . I'm also planning to give Sonia couscous, rice and tiny pasta shapes (haven't found one small enough yet). As her dexterity improves I'll give her well-cooked veggies and bits of fruit. For now, however, they just slip out of her hands so she still gets these foods on a spoon. Oh one other thing.... decide early on if you're going to give Petra the iron-fortified Nutrios or regular Cheerios. Both my kids refused to eat Nutrios once they tried the much better tasting Cheerios. cheers! Lee
Isabella really like the Nutrios, and so did I... I also gave her lots of fruits to munch on and pancakes. She's always been a good swallower so I didn't worry much.
I have the Swing-Tray Portable Booster Seat from First Years and I LOVE it. It has two height adjustments and a tray with an extra removable top. I'm still using it for Isabella because it's so convenient and useful when other kids come over.
one piece of advice: try to find one that will attach to your chair and that will still slide under the table. I find the one I have works great in the kitchen because I can get Isabella nice and close to the table. But in the living room, the sides of the booster prevent her from reaching the table.

cubed fresh bananas and avocados, also offer her exactly what's on your plate, along with spices and sauses :)
ReplyDeleteFind a seat that is rear-facing and forward facing, my kids rear-face untill 2 years-old, much safer that way.
